Coheed and Cambria at Revolution FL!

Hey Readers, just a follow up on Johan's post this Friday. Sounds like a sweet gig their show should be very entertaining. The tickets cost $25 Bucks, good deal for a rad date night, hanging with the boys or girls, or just wanting to see a great show on a budget. The Revolution is in Ft. Laudy-Dauty or more properly known as Ft. Lauderdale, FL. It's a great place to have a show because you can grab some grub before the concert. You can go to the Tarpon Bend for all around good food, if you craving Mexican charge the Tex Mex Cantina. They have some good eats. There are some other fun hangouts like Fat Cat's, that will keep you very occupied to people watch at least. Be prepared to pay anywhere from 5-10 bucks for parking, it's tough downtown. WATCH WERE YOU PARK! They will ticket or tow, only park in designated areas. You can get the tickets in Ticketmaster. Enjoy!

Whats going on in Florida?

We are almost finished with March madness (talking about the month and the madness going on all the time and not NCAA Basketball). So, April coming up soon, what happens in April? I have been realistic and picked out two concerts you have to attend to in April: Arctic Monkeys and Coheed and Cambria. April 1th is the first concert to attend to, Arctic monkeys. The concert is in Miami Beach, Jackie Gleason Theatre of Performing Arts, and I think there are still tickets left. The other concert is in Fort Lauderdale, Revolution Live, and I know for sure that there are still tickets left. I don’t think I have much more to say other than that.

Oh found some funny stuff on youtube, Josh from Queens of the Stone Age gets hit by a shoe during a concert, his reaction is pretty funny.

Check it out!

The Moody Blues Tour

Justin Hayward loves to play Peak Hour, The Day We Meet Again, and Driftwood. These are just a few songs being performed live by this legendary band, as well as other memorable hits.

As they have for decades The Moody Blues continues to pack amphitheaters and concert arenas across America and around the world.

With the other two original Moody's, John Lodge-bass and Graeme Edge-drums complementing Justin-guitar and vocals it is obvious why this band has endured.

The Moody Blues went through two major music periods, the Psychedelic 60's and the more contemporary 80's. Their sound is melodic, soul searching, as well as soothing. Maybe some fairy dust got mixed in somewhere.

Accompanying them are two keyboards , a flutist and a second drummer.

Check out their tour schedule www.moodyblues.co.uk. I have seen this band live...Wow !

Drifter Music Review of Wilco at the Fillmore

Last night, the alt rock band Wilco brought down the house at the Fillmore Miami Beach, Jackie Gleason Theater.

What a great show it was!!

The band had no opening act, and used all that extra time to their advantage, ripping through over 20 songs. They played so many great ones, new and old. Just to name a few, the band performed "A shot in the arm", "Heavy Metal Drummer", "Hummingbird", "Forget the Flowers", and a completely different, absolutely amazing version of "Casino Queen". This show at the Fillmore kicked off their tour, so be sure to catch them when they are in your town.

They also had a very intimate part of the set, where all six members moved up towards the front of the stage.

All their upcoming tour dates can be found here:
http://www.wilcoworld.net/shows/index.php

The way they did Casino Queen is worth it alone!!!

Steve Miller still rockin'

On March 2nd, Steve Miller shared the stage with country music star Kenney Chesney. It was for the Country Music Television series "Crossroads". After the show, Miller and Chesney played a late night smaller intimate gig at a place called Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. Steve Miller has been successful ever since his first album came out in 1969. For him to be collaborating with a newer generation's star like Kenney Chesney 40 years later is quite an accomplishment.

Later in the year, this concert will air on CMT. So don't miss it!

Also, Steve Miller has is upcoming tour dates, and is still booking more! check them out here: www.stevemillerband.com

Steve has consistantly came to South Florida every year for decades!!

Satan takes a holiday

Hey music fans! Hope all of you had a great time yesterday celebrating St. Patricks day and that you took Dans advice and saw Seasons Lost perform.

Band of the week (according to no one else but me) is….drum roll…… Satan Takes A Holiday! You need to check them out if you haven’t already, pretty weird name but some great tunes. You can find them on myspace or youtube.com. There debut album is now out and needs to be listened to or purchased, both digital download and online purchase is possible, go to their website for more information: SatanTakesaHoliday.com

If you don’t have any plans for the weekend, go and visit Dr. Feelgoods rock bar and grill. The place is located in West Palm Beach and actually co-owned by Vince Neil, lead singer in heavy metal-band Mötley Crüe. The name of the bar, Dr Feelgood, is actually an old Mötley song from the late 80´s if im not mistaking. Check out a review of the rock n roll bar.

Nothing else from me, have a great weekend and may the fork be with you!

AC/DC Travel Info

Ok readers! This is a big deal, if you are an AC/DC fan, there are only 5 concert dates left in the US. If you want to go, get on it fast, some of the concert dates were re-schedules from last year so more fans are already on it. If you are getting tickets on Ticketmaster, the only one's left are 93 bucks (before fees). I would also try ticketsnow.com, it's a sight where sellers can sell their REAL tickets. You might get a better seat. If you're coming from the east, tickets are expensive. Cheapest one I've found was American Airlines on Cheaptickets for $462. OUCH! If you live on the west coast you can score for much less. Flights out of LAX to LAS from 4/8 to 4/11 from US Air and Delta are under $200. If you guys live smack-dab in the middle of the US or the east coast, I would recommend attending the April 13th Show in Kentucky! That's right Kentucky! Flying from Austin to Kentucky's Int'l airport from Friday April 9th to Wednesday the 14th, starts at $197 from Delta. From MIA to Kentucky if you don't mind stopping it's a little over $300. I would drive north and fly out of Ft. Lauderdale, you'll save $50 bucks. Tickets cost $277 with US Air. I got this info on Cheap Tickets, try priceline too, I like how they cut you a check if the price drops, anything helps right! Happy Travels!

AC/DC and Iron Maiden

Hi rock fans, hope you are having a great spring break week! The weather hasn’t been quite so good but there is still rock music!

Some say, that they are the pioneers behind rock music and that their aggregated age is approximately 500. All we know, they are called AC/DC and their tour begins April 9th at MGM Grand, Las Vegas. The rock band from down under has actually been given a spot in the Rock and Roll hall of fame and we predict that the band is on their final stage, which is a good reason to go see them! It seems like they are only going to play a few concerts in the US so be sure not to miss it. Here is a link with the concert dates: https://tickets.acdc.com/

Iron Maiden starts their tour (The final frontier 2010 north American tour) in June, Dallas. The tickets for the first couple of concerts are on sale from the 20th of March. So remember that date and pick up the phone and get some tickets! Actually the first release dates of tickets is the 13th of March but for the later concerts…ahh, go and check it out on their website: http://www.ironmaiden.com/index.php?categoryid=15

Bored about the weather and don’t know what to do!? You got a couple of hours until Muse starts playing in Chicago…Go go go!!

For all of you guys who have never been to St. Augustine...It is B-E-A-utiful! I would make a weekend out of this one. Why? You have to go on the ghost tours. I've made my pitch, let's get down to the important stuff.

When: This Weekend! March 12Th to March 14Th

Where: St. Augustine, St. John's County Fair Ground

Tickets: For a three day pass the tickets cost $60 bucks! Not Bad. This is a great family weekend because Kids are FREE! Also if you want to camp on the sight it costs $19.50

Shaie Mason of Seasons Lost, Interviewed by Drifter

Hello music fans!
One of the biggest rock bands out of South Florida this decade is preparing for a serious St. Patty’s day show. Seasons Lost will be performing at the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale next Wednesday, March 17th. I had a great opportunity to sit down with singer Shaie Mason and talk about the upcoming show, as well as other things to come for this great new band.

Dan: So Shaie, this is the 5th time Seasons Lost will be playing at Culture Room correct?

Shaie: Yep.

Dan: Are you starting to feel like you’ve made it to the next level, and now a bigger show like Culture Room is the average show for Seasons Lost?

Shaie: Yea, now its time to start headlining shows like Culture Room, so in everyone’s mind we’re as big of an act as anyone else.

Dan: Are there going to be any surprises for the fans on St. Patty’s Day?

Shaie: Yes, the luckiest Irish girl will get a kiss from the lead singer….and the roadies too (laughs).
No but seriously, we’re actually going to do a Metallica cover, off the “Ride the Lightning” album. So make sure you come see which one it is.

Dan: Seasons Lost has done one or two acoustic shows in the past. Both times, they were a hit. Do you see more of those shows in the future?

Shaie: Absolutely. I like it because it shows how versatile we are, and that we don’t always have to be heavy metal.

Dan: Is there a particular song that really comes from the heart, and has specific meaning to you?

Shaie: Yes, every song comes from the heart. When all you have left is the heart, and there have been so many losses in life, writing music encompasses all the hopes and dreams inside of one’s self. I eat, sleep, live, and breathe, what I believe in. If that’s not what your in it for, you’re false.

Dan: Well Shaie, that was very inspirational. Thank you for your time today, and I hope you have a great St. Patty’s Day show.

Shaie: Thanks Dan. See you at the show.

Stone Temple Pilots Rise Again!!

One of the greatest rock bands of the 90's was just interviewed earlier this year. Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Robert DeLeo (bass) of STP confirmed that their new album is nearing completion. This will be their first release in about a decade. Also, singer Scott Weiland who had been in and out of rehab, hindering the band from moving forward and touring, is now looking quite healthy.

Another Drifter music prediction- STP is back and ready to sustain their career for many years to come.

As of right now, the new album is scheduled for May 25th.

If you haven't heard of STP yet, Drifter music would like to recomend their 1992 release "Core" as a great place to start your listening journey.

More About the Wanee Music Festival 2010

The Wanee Music Festival 2010 will be held on the banks of the Suwannee River near Live Oak , Florida, April 15-17, in a beautiful Oak tree setting. With 800 acres of park this venue is perfect for a family gathering.

There are lots of things to do at The Suwanne Music Park. It is home to the world's largest bat house. Don't worry they are harmless but are very interesting to learn about. In fact bat's devour a nasty insect, the mosquito.(thank you Mister Bat-also Batman Lives!) As I said before this area of Florida has boundless beauty. I have never been to this park, but have been to Live Oak many times.

There are a lot of natural freshwater springs on the way if you are coming from south Florida. Icheetucknee Springs is one you may enjoy. This natural spring flows out of the ground from an underground aquifer and is the headwaters of the Icheetucknee River. In the Spring and Summer months it can be a wonderful family outing. Grab you inner tubes, strap them together, pack food and drink in a dry cooler, float down a lazy river on a two hour ride that Disney Magic can't duplicate. The cool water combined with hot days refreshes the soul. This small, quaint river is located north of Gainesville, Florida and south of Gainesville, Georgia.

This Wanee Music Festival 2010 is hosted by Warren Haynes and is a friends and family event. Many of the performing bands have close relatives associated with them. This event is truly homey.

The 2010 lineup includes some of the great bands that have grown up in this country. Some are; Warren Hayne's own band-Gov't Mule, Steven Stills( of Woodstock fame Crosby Stills and Nash ) Dr. John, Johnny Winter ( blues guitar extroidnaire ), Chuck Leavell with The Randal Bramblet Band, Jaimoe's Jazz Band just to name a few.

I have a special mention of the band The Wailers. They are performing at the Wanee Festival. This band represents the soul of Jamaica. These guys continue to instill peace and harmony by writing and performing a sound that permeates our body. They fight for reducing world hunger and play music for bringing awareness of human rights. They also write about our country such as evidenced in the song Buffalo Souldier. View their website at http://www.wailers.com/

There are a lot of family members intertwined in the bands playing at the Wanee 2010 Music Festival so it's sure to be a good time event. Please get prepared by learning more at the website http://waneefestival.com. Enjoy!

I have a couple of travel tips if you are driving. For about $ 5 at WalMart you can get rain.x 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner to clean you cars glass. I have been using this stuff and wow. It repells water and enhances driving visibility. It puts a shield on your glass the helps prolong wiper blade life.( Save money buy concert tickets. Yeah Baby ) Try it, it's super.

Spring and summer is love bug season in Florida. Yuck, yuck ,yuck... Protect your paint and reduce costs of cleaning your car by applying - All Natural PAM No-Stick Cooking Spray to the hood of your car. Bugs come of with minimal effort. So, save time, save money, cut down stress... yes, you are getting it, Buy Concert Tickets !!! If you are planning to take a taxi from Miami, Florida or Atlanta,Georgia who cares.

Okay, one last thing, a half delirious guy is riding in a taxi going to the Wanee 2010 Music Festival, looks out the window and rather quickly throws out his last bit of Skippy Peanut Butter that he had grabbed while running out of the house. What was he trying to do?
